Jimmy A and the other Ragamuffins felt that after having gone through all the memorials and the recording process of The Jesus Record, that they would be OK for this evening. However, when they took the stage, they felt a finality of Rich not being there that they didn't expect. It was just the start of many concerts with much emotion.

Mark sings "Surely God is With Us," one of only two songs from The Jesus Record that Rich did not write. Mark co-wrote it with Beaker, Rich's long-time friend and songwriting partner. Rich started Kid Brothers with Beaker originally, and many were curious as to why Beaker had not participated in The Jesus Record or any of the other memorial projects. Quite simply, Beaker chose to keep his privacy and did not desire to participate. As Rick sings "Man Of No Reputation," behind him on keyboards is the "fifth Ragamuffin," Carl Herrgesell.

After singing a few of the songs of The Jesus Record, the Ragamuffins took turns singing some of our favorite Rich songs. Aaron Smith came up front from the drums to sing "If I Stand." Reminiscent of Rich's concerts, we all sang along.

It was getting pretty late (9:30pm on a Sunday evening), by the time Gary Chapman took the stage. Even with his incredibly busy schedule as host of Prime Time Country, Gary took the time to come to Wichita to remember his friend Rich, and sing a relaxed, short set of music. Accompanying Gary on bass, was Danny O'Lannerghty. Danny, also a Ragamuffin, played bass on A Liturgy, a Legacy, and a Ragamuffin Band.

Gary asked if anyone wanted to hear anything special, and someone shouted "Gospel Ship." Gary said they had never played it as a three piece - with Gary and Danny and Tim Aker (left) on keyboards - they would give it a shot. As soon as it started rocking, the Ragamuffins trickled back on stage.

When all the Ragamuffins were on stage with Gary and his group, it was quite a jam, but it wasn't over yet.

To close the evening, the Ragamuffins were joined by the Central Christian Choir to sing "My Deliverer" one more time.

Even though we had already heard "My Deliverer," the choir added a wonderful live dimension to the song, and the Ragamuffins were energized a little, most likely from the fact that a very long day was almost over.

The concert was over pretty late for a Sunday evening, but even after everything was over, lots of people stayed around to visit.

Lots of folks worked hard to pull this off, and the Legacy was extremely grateful. I would like to thank Beth Ash and Betty Horn for providing some of the photographs for this scrapbook.
