Suits Of Skin
words and music by Mitch McVicker
There is so much more inside of each of us
It can be so overwhelming to think about who it is
Who makes us who we are
In us He lives, but can we stretch out that far
'Cause our Lord must be so big and I know that we are small
So how does He ever fit within the walls
We use to protect ourselves
I guess we're clogged just like the gates of hell
And He stands and knocks on the door to our heart
And when we let Him in
His love will overtake us 'cause that's what He
Brings along with Him
Chorus
Yeah, He chose to make us His home, so how can we house Him
When our souls are wrapped around our bones
And we've got suits of skin
Well, I won't believe anymore that what you see is what you get
We push our spirits down and let our flesh come out on top
Oh, but He is still around and He says that our bodies could drop
Off of the face of the earth
And it wouldn't be our loss, we'd see what our soul is worth
And He calls us to the place where our heart is
And will it go for not
Well, He will never give up on us
No matter what the cost
Chorus
He chose to make us His home
Ah, but how can we house Him
When our souls are wrapped around our bones
And we've got suits of skin
Chorus
'Cause we got suits of skin,
Ah, we've got suits of skin
Suits of skin

I heard a phrase in a song that gave me the idea for this song title. Then it got me thinking that we put to much stock in appearance. What we see is such a big part of our lives, but there is much more to each one of us than meets the eye.
