Mitch McVicker Concert Review - Cross Lake, MN

Concert pictures to come.

If you are ever "up north" in Minnesota, stop in at the Old Fire Hall Ministry Center in Cross Lake for a cappuccino and great fellowship. They would be glad to have you!

The Old Fire Hall Ministry Center is blessed with amazing acoustics and a wonderful sound guy named Ted to go along with it. Sparkle was the word for the evening. In Mitch's song, "Emmanuel", there is a line that says, "...and I sparkle when I live my life like I know that You are right here with us, I guess that's why You're called Emmanuel..." The guys had a sparkle in their eyes all evening long, from the first note to the last, because Emmanuel was there. Youth Pastor, Jeff Jensen noted during intermission that these three guys have true servant hearts and small egos - which really impressed him.

Mitch sang many songs from his new CD, "Heaven is Waiting" from Canticles of the Plains and his version of "My Deliverer". The crowd really enjoyed Mitch's music and dry humor. He commented that in most parts of the country, people are experiencing springtime weather-trying to make the point that it was still a little too chilly for him in northern Minnesota. He apologized for having to stop and tune their guitars many times-but he was glad that the crowd was there to listen. Brad also broke a string on the 12-string guitar, so now it is actually a 10-string-but in his opinion it still sounds great. Cobra wore his hear really funky and continued to beat on his drums and spaghetti pot. Mitch said that when they go to Wal-Mart that Cobra takes things off the shelves and begins to beat them, looking for that perfect sound. And he finds it!

I attended three out of the four concerts that Mitch and the guys did while in Minnesota. His music never gets boring or redundant to me. I think it is because of the depth of the message that he delivers. God is forcing Mitch to go deeper into the grace of His love in order to build a greater foundation in his life. Actually, God is doing this work in all of our lives-we just need to be still and let Him work.

Thank you Mitch for sharing your life with us and in turn drawing us closer to Jesus. Don't ever lose your sparkle!
