At the invitation of a friend of the group, we had a wonderful
worship experience this morning at New Song Christian Fellowship in Brentwoood.
As if this morning wasn't enough time in praise and worship, tonight
I went to the Sunday Evening Worship Service at the Ryman Auditorium. It was a tremendous time of signing,
praise, and renewal in the Spirit. Darrell Harris (formerly of StarSong, now GMA Chaplain) led the service. The
praise was led by Brown Bannister, Michael W Smith, and Twila Paris. Ragamuffin Aaron Smith on drums and Michael Wilshire on guitar rounded out the praise band (Both Aaron and Michael
have supported Smitty on past tours).
We did a lot of singing and it certainly was a treat to sing praise songs that you've done a hundred times in church, but never lead by the composers themselves, as we were tonight. We also sang a couple of Rich's songs "Step By Step" and "Awesome God." I sat with my friends Bob Thornton and John Pohlman, from KTLI Light 99 FM. We all agreed that it is still difficult to sing those songs after over six months without welling up. Bob reminded me it was two years ago at this very Worship Service that Rich received a five minute standing ovation when he closed with "Awesome God."
