It has been a long time since we've given an update on the life and times of Whiteheart. Though no discourse will ever be completely enlightening, we hope this answers most curiosities and questions that have arisen over the last few years.

The band is now in a position where we've indefinitely, if not permanently, chosen to move on individually to other paths. We've never liked the phrase "break-up," because it always seems to have a negative connotation. We just feel that we reached a point in the season of life where Whiteheart has fulfilled its purpose in many ways. Though we'll never say never, because God is so much larger than that, it just simply doesn't seem reasonable to assume that we would be doing anything again together more than supper and a football game. On the times that we do get together it is enjoyable, but we don't sit around and sing old Whiteheart tunes. The encouragement and edification that we've received throughout the years and still continue to receive has been an indescribable joy and blessing, and as we've realized throughout the years such things of tremendous value only come because God is everything He says He is. To be able to write down words and put them to music and share them with others is a privilege that I'm sure we still don't completely comprehend.

Many in the band throughout the years continue to use their musical gifts, some full time and others simply for fun and fellowship. I can only report at this time on what Mark, Billy and I are currently doing. We will have more information to share on past band members in future updates.

From Mark Gersmehl--

[updated Jan 3, 2002] - Mark has signed with Spring Hill Music Group, and is preparing to release his first solo CD, Awakening, this Spring 2002. Click here to read the press release.

From Billy Smiley--

In addition to producing The Normals, Rhonda Gunn, A2J, The Straw Theory, Heather Miller, and others in past years, I worked as Western A&R for KMG Records. I left KMG to start a label representing the southwestern United States called The Mission Music Group, and and a production company called Cul De Sac Records.

Since Whiteheart is in an 'eternal sabbatical' of sorts!!, I have started a new musical endeavor called Eight 28. (from Romans - my life verse) Randy Kinnett lead singer from Human and I are about 80% done with the first project entitled "Touch" - look for it in the spring. You can log onto http://www.Eight28.com/ for more info and tour dates. I will still produce 2-3 artists each year as well, and currently manage The Straw Theory and Eight 28 - email me at billy@culdesacrecords.com.

From Rick Florian--

I (Rick) am so thankful to be at home every night with my wife, Lisa, rather than on a tour bus with 13 guys (though fun guys they were!). As wonderful as it was, I simply love staying at home. I've been a full-time real estate agent in the Nashville area for over 3 years, and count it a blessing and somewhat of a surprise that I so thoroughly enjoy it. My wife and I teach Pre-K Sunday School and help with children's praise and worship at our church, and that's just fine for me musically. I hope to get a web site up soon with more family details, pictures and personal info for any who are interested.

We've received lots of questions over the years, and here's where I'll attempt to answer the top 5:

  1. We are looking at adding as many Whiteheart song lyrics as possible to the web site in the very near future. This might help fulfill some needs and clarify any lyrical question marks. To our knowledge there is no Whiteheart sheet music available.
  2. Purchasing Whiteheart product from us directly has left many wanting. We are getting pretty low on most everything except Redemption and Inside CD's and cassettes. Most product previous to these projects will have to be located either directly through the record label or distribution company, one of the 800 internet companies, or your local used music store. Most of these items are out of print and are not warehoused anymore except at a few of these 800 companies. Once sales reach a certain minimum, manufacturing is discontinued. We are still getting together what little inventory we have left on other merchandise, and if you've sent an order that has not yet been answered, we are currently attempting to either fulfill the requests we have or send back any monies forwarded to us. Many who have asked for copies of specific songs, accompaniment tapes or videos will, as well, have to locate these elsewhere.
  3. While we understand the frustration of not being able to located old Whiteheart product, to our knowledge no Whiteheart product is available in the MP3 format nor can it legally be converted to the MP3 format without written permission from the publisher and record label. However, some of the earliest Whiteheart stuff can be found at http://homesweethomerecords.com/
  4. Until further notice, Whiteheart will not be touring or performing live. If that were to ever change, we'll make sure you hear it here first.
  5. The Whiteheart fan club is no longer active, and it would be important to note that the order forms that have always been included in past recorded product as well as any other offers, including the fan club, are no longer applicable.

God bless.

Rick Florian for Whiteheart
